So, you’ve got a piece of furniture that needs some TLC, and you’re ready to give it a fabulous makeover. Fantastic! To help me bring your vision to life, I’ll need a few details about your piece. No, I don’t mean its favorite color or where it came from (although I do love a chair with a story). What I need are some good ol’ fashioned measurements.

Before you start worrying about channeling your inner math whiz, don’t panic! Measuring your furniture is easier than you think, and I promise it’s a judgment-free zone if it takes a couple tries to get it right. Here’s how to do it:

Step 1: Grab a Tape Measure

If you’re anything like me, your tape measure is probably in the same place as your matching socks—MIA. Once you track it down (or borrow one from a neighbor), you’re ready to start.

Step 2: Use the Diagram Below (Yes, It’s Your Cheat Sheet!)

The form below includes a handy diagram to show you exactly where to measure. Be sure to jot down the following:

  • Height: Measure from the floor (or bottom) to the top of the piece.
  • Width: Measure across the widest point from side to side.
  • Depth: Measure from front to back, making sure to include any cushions or detailing that add extra space.

If you’re working with a chair, don’t forget the arms and backrest—these can impact how much fabric we’ll need.

Step 3: Snap a Picture (Or Two!)

While measurements are crucial, a photo is worth a thousand words (and possibly a thousand saved emails back and forth). Upload clear photos with your form so I can see the shape, curves, and overall vibe of your piece. Bonus points if your dog photobombs the shot.

Step 4: Fill Out the Form

Once you’ve gathered your measurements and snapped a few pictures, fill out the form below with as much detail as possible. The more I know about your project, the more accurate your estimate will be.

Why It Matters

Taking these measurements helps me determine the amount of fabric, padding, and materials needed for your project. It also means fewer surprises for both of us when it’s time to discuss pricing.

So, grab that tape measure and get started. Your furniture’s glow-up is just a form away! And remember, if you get stuck, I’m just a message away to guide you through the process.
